I was panicked while the events of September 11
unfolded, not just for the obvious reasons,
but because my friend Eleanor lives in NYC
and works for Citigroup on Wall Street
(5 blocks away from the World Trade Center)

I tried to call, but all the circuits were busy and
I was not able to get through to her.

On September 12, I received this email from her:

"Some of you may be concerned for those of us in NYC during the tragic events of yesterday. Thank you to everyone that called (if you could get through), tried to call (if you couldn't), e-mailed and kept me sane. It's hard to say that I am "ok" because I am still reeling from the shock of it all but, physically, my brother Bob and I are both ok.

An unseen hand guided me on the way to work and told me to turn back; I watched the horror show from my home. Bob was on the subway when the towers were struck and on exiting to the street he saw sights, first hand, that won't be easy to forget. The important thing is that we are both safe. My co-workers who were on Wall Street are safe, to the best of my understanding.

I awoke this morning in disbelief as it all came back into my consious mind...a waking nightmare. If prayer is something you believe in, those of us here and at the other target zones sure could use some right now."
