that lost their lives and family members
on September 11, 2001.

In Sudbury, Massachusetts, a group of
children (ages 5 - 9) were grappling with a way to
help/contribute to the effort to support and help
the families of the victims of the September 11 tragedy.
A bright Mom had the idea of selling candy to raise money.
The children bought bags of red, white, and blue jelly beans.
They put a few beans each in ziplock bags, accompanied with a
poem they had written. They sold the jelly beans outside
the grocery store. The cost was - whatever you wanted to pay
for them. The children raised approximately
five thousand dollars. When they brought the money to
deposit to the local bank that had set up a relief fund,
the bank (Sovereign bank) matched the dollar amount of the
childrens' donation.


That's American!
